WILDFIRE was taken on a scouring 105*F day trekking through the Badlands in South Dakota. There was a wildfire that had swept through the Pine Ridge Reservation making the light otherworldly with a hazy golden hue that was unreal; the smoke was thick and the rainbow was the light reflecting from the wildfire smoke. I'm glad I didn't listen to the park rangers who warned me not to go out hiking in such extreme weather conditions because it was a truly beautiful day and perfect time for me to snap this photograph.
