Bear Butte or Mathó Pahá is a very sacred pilgrimage destination for the Lakota + Cheyenne Tribes; many travel from far and wide to offer prayers with prayer cloths and bundles tied to the branches of the trees on the mountain. They also conduct ceremonies on this mountain of peace, prayer and ceremony.
